Scanner, On Your Phone
Microsoft’s Office Lens is a great free tool that lets you use your smartphone of tablet device to capture images from a variety of media and save them as a usable graphic file. Lens can be used to capture something as a:
Business Card – recognises and extracts contact information from the photo of the business card, and save details into your contacts stored on your device. Multiple languages can be imported.
Photo – take and saves images of objects or people.
Document – use to enhance or isolate words and details on a page.
Whiteboard – adjust whiteboard images so the background isn’t too bright and the words are easier to read. Images from blackboards and hand-drawn sketches also benefit from this mode.
- Office Lens provides a number of functions with images captured:
- can crop the image, to leave out bits your don’t want
- can add text captions
- can draw, for example to emphasise.
Display Your Mobile Device on the Whiteboard
